Miss Becky started dancing at the age of 3 and at the age of 18 she started teaching dance classes independently at local dance schools, primary schools and nurseries. She trained at The Birmingham Stage school in musical theatre, cheerleading, modern dance, ballet and tap. With a wealth performance experience Miss Becky has performed at various venues locally and nationally, most notably The Royal Albert Hall, The London Palladium, The Birmingham Hippodrome and The Disney Theatre in Paris. With a National Diploma in Dance gained at Birmingham’s Sutton College Miss Becky is a fully qualified dance teacher with the International Dance Teacher’s Association (IDTA) and the UK eCheerleading Association (UKCA). Miss Becky has recently gained a new qualification in Acrobatic Arts enabling students of the school to participate in acrobatic exams.

SDA focus on performances and guarantee that all students are offered equal opportunities. Miss Becky believes performances gain so much for children not only for experience but for confidence.

Performances happen termly at local halls or The Friary School and we take part annually in local events such as “Gotta Dance” at the Prince of Wales Theatre in Cannock, The Bower Parade, The Lichfield Festival and the Fuse Festival.

We also take part in showcases at the larger venues. To date we have performed at The Shaftsbury Theatre in London, Her Majesty’s Theatre in London, The Birmingham Hippodrome, Blackpool Winter Gardens, 02 Indigo in London, Alton Towers and will soon be crossing sees to perform at Disneyland Paris. See our next showcases under “Events”! We are also taking part in some exciting competitions such as Dance Challenge UK and the Chance2Dance Challenge. Taking part in any performances is not a necessity to be a part of the school.

SDA run classes weekly in gymnastics and tumbling and acrobatic arts, street and commercial dance, breakdance and hip hop, contemporary, cheerleading and tap and take pupils from the age of 2 1/2. Classes are currently taught by Principal Becky Tippins, supported by her assistants and coaches Nicole Jones and Stef Slater who run cheerleading. See our timetable for more details!

We also run workshops introducing new styles of dance to students and new elements of performance. Non students are welcome to attend.

SDA offer kids clubs during half terms and during the 6 week summer holidays. During these workshops we do many styles of dance and gymnastics, musical theatre, art n crafts, multi sports, games, circus training, and multiple days. We also have our “Special Days” of the week where we have a specific activity such as zorbing! SDA are also the perfect party entertainment! And now with our studio we can provide the perfect venue too!

Miss Becky is also hired for her choreography and increasingly more than ever for the happy couples first dance and bridesmaids flash mobs!
